The Dordt Defenders rolled up 41 points in the second and third quarters after a scoreless first period on the way to a 55-7 win over the Briar Cliff Chargers in Sioux City on Saturday afternoon. The Defenders moved to 7-1 this season with the win.

Dordt's defense set the tone on the first drive, forcing Briar Cliff to settle for a field goal attempt that was short and the Defenders managed to keep the shutout intact for mucb of the contest even though the Chargers had it inside the Dordt 30 repeatedly.
Dordt broke through with a
Daniel Dickerson eight yard run early in the second quarter to cap a 78 yard drive. Dickerson ran 70 yards later in the period for Dordt's third touchdown and a 21-0 halftime lead. Â Â In between
Kolson Kruse did the honors with a one yard run at the 7:19 mark of the second period and the junior quarterback added a five yard in the third period. Kruse also figured into Dordt's fourth score as he completed a 27 yard pass to
Kaden Harken as Dordt took just two plays to cover 53 yards in its initial drive of the second half.
Noah Strickfaden engineered a pair of drives for Dordt in the third and fourth quarters with a 13 yard run at the 6:47 mark of the third quarter and
Preston McCoy scored his first touchdown of the season to complete a nine play, 71 yard drive with 8:55 left in the game.
Dordt's last drive was set up by a Trey Van Hauen interception and
Cody Boender found the end zone with a 19 yard for an eventual 55-0 lead. Briar Cliff averted the shutout with a touchdown at the 2:57 mark of the game.
