Dordt lost a defensive tussle with Northwestern in GPAC football on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center by a 3-0 score. Northwestern secured the win with a blocked field goal with under 10 seconds remaining to force a three-way tie for second place in the conference with one week to play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt had first half chances and turned the ball over on downs at the Northwestern 21 and had a second turnover with an interception at the Northwestern goal line with 9:10 left in the half. Dordt had one more chance in the first half but a sack on fourth and six at the Northwestern 29 stopped the drive.
Meanwhile, Northwestern missed on a 48 yard field goal with the wind with 1:54 left in the half on its best scoring chance of the half and the game was 0-0 at halftime.
Kole Telford intercepted a pass on Dordt's first play from scrimmage in the second half and returned it to the Dordt 42 yard line. Northwestern got a first down with a 19 yard run to start the drive and eventually settled for a 38 yard field goal try by Eli Stader that snuck over the cross bar pushed the Raiders in front 3-0.
Dordt had a chance midway through the third quarter when
Tim Buckholtz blocked a punt but the ensuing drive ended at the Northwestern 36 on downs.
Dordt's defense forced a couple stops on fourth down in the fourth quarter to keep the score at 3-0. Dordt's last chance started at their own 33 and
Kolson Kruse completed a 23 yard pass to
Eliot Beal with 1:48 remaining. From the 42 yard line Dordt got another first down and the Defenders were eventually faced with fourth and one with :17 left.
Stephen Leinen's 41 yard field goal was blocked and Northwestern recovered to secure the win.
Dordt, Northwestern and Concordia are now all 7-2 in the GPAC with one week to go. Morningside has secured the GPAC title.
