The Dordt Defenders defeated the Doane Tigers on a 3-0 decision in SIoux Center on Saturday afternoon.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Defenders wasted very little time as
Karinna Tel scored the first goal of the game in the sixth, which would prove to be the game winner.
Brooke Marjama gave a through pass that found Joslyn Terpsta. Terpstra took a touch that rebounded off of goalkeeper, Virginia Johnson, that
Karinna Tel got a touch to a put it off the near post and in.
Dordt doubled their lead in the 31st minute on another
Karinna Tel goal, this one assisted by
Abby Worthy. Worthy took the ball up the near sideline and gave a perfect through pass to Tel who took a touch around Johnson and finished her second goal of the afternoon.
Doane had two good opportunities late in the first half but both were saved by
Jenna Wright. Dordt entered the break with 2-0 lead.
Tel secured the hat-trick with a goal in the 47th minute.
Katie Schaupp hit a ball that crossed the top of the penalty area.
Joslyn Terpstra flicked the ball over her head to find Tel who hit a one-time volley that found the side netting on the back post for the third goal of the game.
Doane had another chance late on a shot that was heading just inside the near post.
Jenna Wright made a diving two handed save to keep the shutout.
