(Monday, November 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Michael McAloon, a senior at McKinney High School (Texas), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender baseball program.
McAloon is a catcher and he posted a .313 batting average in spring 2024 and caught 51 innings and threw out eight base stealers. He also played for the McKinney Marshals and had a .333 batting average and caught 104 innings and threw out 23 percent of the base runners who attempted to steal.
"I chose Dordt because it is a good school where I can continue developing as a Christian, earn my degree and play baseball," said McAloon.
Michael is the son of Ethelind and Michael McAloon of McKinney, Texas and he plans to study civil engineering.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
