Defenders Take Lopsided Decision With Hannibal LaGrange

An 11-0 second half run and a 19-0 run later in the half blew open Dordt's game with Hannibal LaGrange on Wednesday afternoon in Columbia, Missouri and the Defenders rolled to a 94-51 win to start the season 10-0.

The Defenders scored the first eight points of the game but the Trojans came back and eventually took the lead at 18-17 and had their biggest lead of the game at 21-19 with 10:28 left in the game. Dordt tied it on a Jake Hargens basket and he had another basket on a fast break to give the Defenders the lead for good at 23-21 with 9:33 left in the game. The game was still relatively close at 31-26 with 7:42 left in the half and back to back baskets by Lucas Lorenzen extended the lead to nine and
Dordt rode a 12-3 run to close the half and had a 43-29 halftime lead.

The Trojans scored the first basket of the second half but Lorenzen hit a three to ignite an 11-0 run for a 54-31 lead with 17:32 left in the game. Two minutes later the score was 62-37.  Luke Rankin converted a basket with 14:40 to start what turned into a 19-0 run and ended at the 9:14 mark with Ben Loverude capping the streak. The Trojans didn't put up much of a fight after that and Dordt went on to take the 43-point win.
