The Dordt Defender men's basketball team made over 60 percent of its field goal attempts on the way to a 99-68 win over the Hastings Broncos on Saturday afternoon, December 14 in GPAC play.

The Defenders trailed 6-5 early when Lucas Lorenzen scored a layup and Bryce Coppock scored on back to back baskets as Dordt went on a 6-0 run. Back to back three-point baskets by Jake Proctor helped the Defenders and extended the lead to nine points. Proctor eventually made three, three-point baskets in the first half but the visitors cut the lead to 26-21 with 8:00 remaining. Dordt proceeded to got on a 15-4 run capped by a Coppock three-point basket for a 41-25 lead with 4:08 left. Ben Fairclough converted a three-point shot at the horn to end the first quarter and Dordt's lead was 52-35 at the break.
Hastings got the difference to 14 early in the second half but Dordt extended the lead to 27 on Proctor's fourth three-point basket with 13:22 remaining in the game and the Defenders played most of the  final 10 minutes with a 30-point or more lead before winning 99-68.
Luke Rankin handed out 17 assists breaking Kevin Gesink's single game record of 15 set in 1988.
