Jacob Gulker (Sioux Center, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to attend Dordt University and join the Defender men's track and field program.
Gulker is a 6'2" sprinter who has competed three years for the Western Christian High School track and field team heading into his final season this spring. He was part of a sprint medley team that ran the third fastest time in program history (1:40.76) as a junior. Gulker has also been part of the Wolfpack's 4x100 and 4x200 relays that rank among the top 10 best in program history.
"We are excited that Jacob has chosen Dordt to further his education and be a part of our track and field program," commented Dordt University Head Track and Field Coach Craig Heynen. "Jacob is a hard worker and will be a great teammate. He has worked hard over the past year to improve his sprinting, and I am excited to see how he will progress this year and in the future as a Defender."
Gulker has personal bests of 11.5 in the 100m and 23.3 in the 200m. He plans to study Business at Dordt and is the son of Brad and Jori.
"I chose to attend Dordt University because of its amazing community and how they integrate faith into athletics," stated Gulker. "Dordt is a place where I have the opportunity to compete in athletics, receive a great education and to grow in my spiritual walk."
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
