The Defenders trailed 23-15 with 10:59 left in the first half before a
Luke Rankin three-point basket ignited an 8-0 run.
Connor Millikan followed with a basket after a turnover and
Bryce Coppock made a three-point basket to erase the lead at the 8:59 mark. Dordt didn't take their first lead until a Coppock basket at the 5:04 mark put them up 35-33. After Morningside regained the lead it was Coppock again who buried a three-point shot for a 43-41 advantage and
Ben Fairclough followed with a three-point shot for a 46-41 lead before Dordt settled for a 46-43 halftime edge.
Morningside regained the lead at 49-48 but a
Lucas Lorenzen basket pushed Dordt back in front 52-49. Morningside took the lead back for good at the 15:34 mark and Dordt was fighting from behind the rest of the game. The Mustangs ballooned the lead to 67-58 but
Jackson Louscher, Rankin and Millikan all got baskets to draw within 67-64. Dordt stayed within 70-68 with 7:05 left and had a shot to tie the game on the next possession but missed.
