HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to Missouri Valley on Friday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Defenders battled to close losses in sets one and three by 26-24 and 28-26 margins and lost set two 25-15.
Set one had nine ties with Dordt coming back to tie the set 24-24 on a
Nicodemus Elliott kill. Missouri Valley used a timeout and followed with back to back kills for the 26-24 win. Set two was tied 6-6 before five unanswered runs pushed the difference to 11-6 and Dordt wasn't able to make a push back.
In set three Dordt had an early lead before the visitors came back to tie the set at 7-7. It was tied again at 12-12 before Dordt allowed four points in a row. A
Cade Schmidt kill tied the set and the teams were tied at ever point from 17 to 20. An attack error with the score tied 24-24 but Dordt took advantage of an attack error and then added a
Lukas Van Groningen kill when it was tied 26-26. Back to back kills by the Vikings gave them a 28-26 win.
