(Saturday, March 2; Sioux Center, Iowa) Isaiah Van Noord, a student at Reeths-Puffer High School (Michigan), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender hockey program.
"We are happy with the new addition of Isaiah for the coming fall. We feel he will add more depth and strength to our goaltending position and continue to push our program in the right direction. Isaiah is a perfect fit for this team and this campus community. The future is bright for him at Dordt!" said Dordt hockey coach Tyler Morgan.
Van Noord is a 6-2 goalkeeper and has played high school hockey and for the Compuware AAA program. Van Noord has earned honorable mention all-conference honors along with academic all-state accolades. During his career he was also a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hockey Player of the Month.
"I chose Dordt because I love that Dordt puts faith first in everything. I'm looking forward to being part of Dordt's engineering program and I'm excited to be a part of a fantastic hockey team and play in an electric atmosphere. I'm also pumped to compete for a national championship," said Van Noord.
Isaiah is the son of Kurt and Jenifer Van Noord of Muskegon, Michigan. He plans to study engineering at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
