Swim Commit | Jose Gabriel Garcia Faraj

(Saturday, March 2; Sioux Center, Iowa) Jose Gabriel Garcia Faraj, a student at Great Commission Academy, has announced his intention to attend Dordt University and join the swim program.  

"Jose will be a great addition to the Dordt swimming program! He is extremely motivated and is a great freestyle and butterfly swimmer and will immediately make an impact in our program!" said Dordt swim coach Mason Youngblood. 

Faraj has personal bests of 29.6 in the 50 freestyle; 1:06 in the 100 freestyle; 32.48 in the 50 butterfly and 1:23 in the 1:23 in the 100 butterfly. Faraj has competed for Delfines Sanpedranos.  

Jose is the son of Gabriel Garcia and Angelica Farah of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He plans to study animal science at Dordt.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
