(Wednesday, April 10; Sioux Center, Iowa) Luke Kester, a senior at Truman High School (Minnesota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender hockey program.
"We are thrilled to add Luke to our program. He has been a great kid to get to know through the recruiting process, and he is exactly the type of young man we want to bring to our campus to help improve our hockey team. Luke has a high ceiling, and will be a great addition to Dordt's campus," said Dordt hockey coach Tyler Morgan.
Kester is a 5-9 left wing who scored 31 goals and assisted on 35 the last three seasons.
"I chose Dordt University because when I visited it felt like home and the atmosphere was great. It is important for me going into college to strengthen my relationship wtih god and at the same I get to continue my hockey and academic career," said Kester.
Luke is the son of Casey Kester and Paula Heckman. He plans to study business administration.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
