(Tuesday, April 23; Sioux Center, Iowa) Marcus Seifert has announced his intention to attend Dordt University and join the swimming program. Seifert competed for Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"Marcus is not only a fantastic athlete but also an all-around great individual. He is truly hardworking and will be great for building up Dordt's swimming program," said Dordt swimming coach Mason Youngblood.
Seifert has personal bests of 20.65 in the 50 freestyle; 50.46 in the 100 backstroke and 46.36 in the 100 freestyle. He's won a district championship and is a two-time State A Finalist in the 50 freestyle. Seifert also qualified for the YMCA nationals in four individual events and multiple relays.
"I wish to pursue excellence in swimming and studying and making films to the glory of God. With the huge growth of soul-destroying media, I want to make really good stories just like the ultimate storyteller Himself," said Seifert.
Marcus is the son of Jeremy and Beth Seifert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He plans to study Digital Communications.
