The Dordt University men's soccer team opened its 2024 season with a draw against William Woods in a match played this afternoon at the Defenders Soccer Complex in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Phil Appelt and
Jacob Narkis each scored a goal and
Mitchell Dryden made eight saves to lead the Defenders.

- scoreless through 15 minutes of play, Breck McGrail gave the Owls a 1-0 lead off an assist by Charlie Williams
- this was McGrails first goal of the season; Williams' first assist
- Dordt tied the match during the 33rd minute Santiago Carvajal received a ball near the penalty area, played it wide to Jacob Narkis who crossed it back to the far post where Appelt touched a shot past the Owls goalkeeper
- still tied 1-1, the Defenders earned a foul in the penalty area and Narkis converted the penalty kick for a 2-1 lead at the 84th minute
- William Woods scored the equalizer moments later on a goal by David Fink, his first of the season, assisted by both McGrail and Lubos Polacko

- William Woods accounted for 17 shots, 10 on-frame, led by Miles Andrews and Breck McGrail with two each
