The Dordt University women's soccer team earned its third consecutive shutout win in defeating Nebraska Wesleyan 5-0 in a non-conference match played this afternoon at the Defenders Soccer Complex in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders improve to 4-1 this season and head into its GPAC opener Wednesday night against Midland on a shutout streak of three matches. Nebraska Wesleyan, a team coming off to a win against Northwestern last time out, falls to 4-3.
Ellie Stuart netted two goals to lead the Defenders while
Joslyn Terpstra and
Keely Kolbrek both scored a goal to go with one assist.
Abby Foster scored the final goal and
Jenna Roberts and
Jolie Schouten distributed an assist each.
How It Happened:
- scoreless until the 17th minute, Ellie Stuart blasted the Defenders first goal past Wolves goalkeeper Amber Plyle off a rebound from a previous shot by Joslyn Terpstra.
- Jenna Wright thwarted a scoring chance by Nebraska Wesleyan during the 36th minute to keep a 1-0 lead heading into halftime
- nine minutes into the second half, Dordt scored the first of four goals netted in the final period when Joslyn Terpstra received a pass from Keely Kolbreak and pushed it by the Wolves goalie
- just over five minutes later, Kolbrek scored her first goal of the season to put the Defenders up 3-0
- less a minute later, Stuart found the back of the net for her second goal of the game, assisted by Jenna Roberts
- Abby Foster concluded the scoring with a goal during the 68th minute from an assist by Jolie Schouten
