The Dordt University women's soccer team played Midland to a 2-2 tie in the opening match of the conference slate for both teams tonight at Heedum Field in Fremont, Neb.Â
Dordt extends its unbeaten streak to four matches and moves to 0-0-1 in the GPAC, 4-1-1 overall. This was the first match of the 2024 season for Midland.Â
How It Happened (Highlights are at the bottom):
- both teams went scoreless in the opening half; Midland held a slight 6-5 advantage in shots after the first 45 minutes
- less than a minute into the second frame, Abby Worthy stepped in front of a Midland pass attempt, sent a long ball forward that Karinna Tel touched to her Defenders teammate Joslyn Terpstra who then beat the Warriors goalie for a 1-0 lead
- Dordt scored its second goal two minutes later off a free kick by Worthy that Tel received and headed past Midland's goal keeper for a 2-0 lead
- Midland cut the lead to 2-1 when Addison Castellanos blasted a long shot into the goal during the 61st minute
- the Warriors netted the equalizer at the 65th minute on a goal from Jaya Soor
