The Dordt University men's golf team is in second place after first round play at the two-day, 36-hole Hardrocker Fall Invite held at The Golf Club at Red Rocks, a 6,969-yard, par 72 course in Rapid City, S.D.
The Defenders shot a 313 and trails first round leader, Montana State - Billings by five strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. The host team, South Dakota School of Mines, is third with a 321 while Dakota Wesleyan is in fourth place (335).
Austin Faber turned in the Defenders best round and is in second place overall with a 75 (+3), five shots in back of current leader Graedon Woodward with a two-under 70. Faber finished the day with a pair of birdies, both on the back nine, and matched his season-best score.
Both
Caden Koole and
David Chacon carded a 78 (+6) and currently are tied for fifth place, followed by
Caleb Douma (T12th - 82) and
Eli Van Essen (T21st - 86).
Final round play begins at 9am on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
