Defenders Claim Home Win Over Mount Marty

The Dordt Defender men's basketball team won its second game of the week and its 17th of the season with an 84-69 win at home over Mount Marty giving the Defenders the season sweep of the Yankton, South Dakota based school.

Dordt took the lead for good with a Ty Van Essen basket at the 13:17 mark of the first half to take a 10-9 lead.  The basket started a 13-2 run that included two three-point baskets by Jake Proctor and a three and a two by Connor Millikan for a 23-11 lead with 9:48 left in the half.

Dordt extended the lead to 34-18 after a Luke Rankin basket but Mount Marty answered with a basket to make the halftime score 34-20.
A Proctor basket with 14:37 left in the game gave Dordt its first 20-plus point lead of the night and Mount Marty never got closer than 13 the rest of the game with Dordt settling for an 84-69 win.

Dordt is now 17-1 overall and 9-1 in the GPAC.

Mount Marty is 7-9 overall and 4-6 in the league.
