HOW IT HAPPENED

The two teams were tied 12-12 when Luke Rankin converted a three-point basket at the 10:50 mark and the senior guard added a jump shot with 5:49 left in the half to push Dordt's lead to 25-18.

Northwestern's response was swift and a Zach LaFave basket with 2:46 left in the half put the hosts up 32-30. The teams went back and forth with LaFave's three-point shot with :35 left before half giving Northwestern a 37-36 halftime lead.

The teams were separated by no more than three points in the second half and Dordt was hanging on to a 55-53 lead when Ty Van Essen converted a three-point shot with 5:28 left in the game and Bryce Coppock added a three-point basket after a missed free throw. The visitors eventually went up 69-58 and still led by 10 with 1:39 left in the game after a pair of Lucas Lorenzen free throws.

Northwestern eventually took advantage of a Dordt turnover and just enough missed free throws to get within 78-75 but a three-point shot at the horn to tie the game was just off the mark and Dordt held on to the win.

Dordt is 18-1 overall and 10-1 in the GPAC.

Northwestern is 17-1 overall and 9-1 in the GPAC.

Dordt will travel to face Midland on Saturday in Fremont, Nebraska.
