The Dordt University women's soccer team dropped a conference road match to Hastings (Neb.) late Saturday night, falling 3-0 under the lights at Lloyd Wilson Field.
The Defenders held their own through the opening 45 minutes, with goalkeeper
Lydia Zylstra anchoring a resilient defensive effort that kept the Broncos off the scoreboard. Zylstra finished the match with nine saves, including several key stops early to keep the game scoreless.
Hastings broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Avery Higgins converted a pass from Sabrina DeHart to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, the Broncos doubled their advantage on a penalty kick by Megan Lampe. Just three minutes after that, Jesse Chartier added a third goal, assisted by Norah Stewart, sealing the result.
Dordt generated 11 shots in the match, five of which were on target.
Karinna Tel led the attack with five attempts, while
Joslyn Terpstra and
Maria Zylstra each recorded two shots on goal. Despite the offensive pressure, Hastings goalkeeper Tatiana Villasenor turned away every chance to preserve the clean sheet.
