Dordt University men's soccer battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Doane University (Neb.) in a spirited GPAC match-up Saturday afternoon at the Defender Soccer Complex.
The Defenders push their record to 1-3-4 in the GPAC, 4-5-6 overall; Doane is now 1-3-4 in the GPAC, 2-8-4 overall.
Trailing 2-0 midway through the second half, senior forward
Anton Forsch, who shifted to the midfield line after playing on defense in the first half, delivered a clutch performance, scoring twice to tie the match. Forsch's first goal came from the left corner in the 66th minute, and he followed it up with the equalizer in the 84th minute off an assist from
Tate Hansen.
Doane struck first in the 12th minute when Tigers' leading goal scorer Mateo Jelicich found the back of the net, assisted by Nicolas Jones. Jelicich doubled the Tigers' lead in the 63rd minute, finishing a pass from Kai Goodman.
