The Dordt University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Concordia University (Neb.) on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) action.

Despite a strong first half showing and a 14-12 edge in total shots, the Defenders (4-6-6, 1-4-4 GPAC) were unable to find the back of the net. Concordia (8-8, 6-3 GPAC) broke through in the second half with goals from Jasper Hofland in the 51st minute and Oliver Balazs in the 68th minute to secure the win.

Hofland opened the scoring with a well-placed shot off an assist from Karlo Rodriguez, marking his fourth goal of the season. Balazs added the insurance goal with an unassisted strike, his second of the year.

Dordt had several opportunities to score, including a shot off the post by Tyson Reitsma in the 76th minute and five shots on goal overall.

By the Numbers:

• both Dordt and Concordia totaled five shots on-goal
• five Defenders, Tate Hansen, Levi Jaeger, Enzo Lira de Paula, Nolan Karel and Pablo Martin Domingo, all recorded one shot on-goal
• Shad Jaeger (3-5-5) made three saves

• Inigo Chavarria (5-2) made five saves and recorded his first shutout of the season

Notes:

• the Defenders are now 25-16-2 all-time against Concordia
• this was the fourth straight match the Defenders totaled 10-plus shots
• Dordt has give up 2 or less goals in all but one match this season
