The Dordt University women's soccer team delivered a commanding performance this evening, defeating Dakota State 7-0 at the Defender Soccer Complex.
The Defenders (8-5-2) wasted no time asserting control, scoring twice in the opening three minutes.
Abi Keltner opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with her first career goal, finishing a pass from
Abby Worthy. Less than a minute later,
Karinna Tel doubled the lead with a goal assisted by
Maria Zylstra.
Dordt continued to apply pressure throughout the match, outshooting Dakota State 40-1 and earning nine corner kicks to the Trojans' none. Tel added her second goal in the 53rd minute, again assisted by Zylstra, who later found the back of the net herself in the 73rd minute with Tel returning the favor.
The Defenders poured on the offense in the final 15 minutes, with
Grace Engbrecht scoring her first career goal in the 78th minute,
Jenna Roberts adding a goal in the 87th minute, and
Kelli Waypa capping the scoring in the 89th minute off an assist from Roberts.

Lydia Zylstra (8-5-2) and
Abi Green Martinez combined for the shutout, with Dordt's defense holding Dakota State to a single shot and no shots on goal.
