Two first-period goals sent the Dordt Defender hockey team on the way to a 4-0 win over Maryville on Friday night and ran the Defender winning streak to 12 as October comes to an end.
Tegan Doelman scored on a Rylan Veenstra and Reuben Horneman assist just past the midpoint of the first period, and Mason Spejcher made it 2-0 with just under a minute left in the period, with Veenstra again assisting along with Tyler Welsh.
Horneman added a goal four minutes into the second period on an assist by Connor Perakslis, and Nick Espenson added Dordt's fourth even-handed goal of the game with 14:16 remaining, with the assist by Doelman and Veenstra.
Tim Nanson was in goal and made 13 saves to preserve the shutout as Dordt had a 48-13 shots advantage.
