The Dordt Defender women's basketball team survived a 77-74 comeback attempt by Doane in Saturday's game at Crete, Nebraska and clinched a share of the GPAC Championship with the win.

The Defenders trailed 18-12 with 3:44 left in the first quarter when
Olivia Harazin scored on a short shot and
Janie Van Donge followed with a three-point play. Dordt eventually scored 10 in a row with
Hayden Heimensen's three-point shot and took a 22-20 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Defenders pushed the lead to 37-25 midway through the second quarter and settled for a 42-35 halftime lead. The visitors steadily pulled away and had a 66-49 advantage heading into the final period. Doane sliced six off the lead right away in the fourth quarter but Dordt's lead was still 68-55 at the 5:27 mark after an
Ellie Lems basket. An 8-0 run got the Tigers within five before
Janie Van Donge stopped the run with a free throw line jumper. The Tigers got as close as 72-69 with :22 left on a three-point shot but Van Donge converted both free throws and held a 77-71 lead after a
Macy Sievers free throw. Doane's three-pointer at the horn cut the lead in half.
Dordt is 25-1 overall and 19-1 in the GPAC and has a two game lead over Briar Cliff with two games remaining. Dordt will host Morningside on Wednesday night, February 19.
