The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision (29-27, 25-13, 25-19) to Missouri Baptist on Friday night at the De Witt Gym. The match was the fifth Heart of America Athletic Conference match of the season for the Defenders.

Dordt had an early lead in set one and was up 9-4 when Missouri Baptist called a timeout after an attack error. The Spartans pulled to within 13-12 and eventually took a 15-14 lead. Dordt pushed out to a 22-19 lead in response with
Cade Schmidt and
Kai Chapman both getting kills but a four point run by the visitors put them back in control. Dordt as able to fight off set point serve once and scored back to back points with
Andres Guzman's kill getting Dordt to at 25-24 advantage.
Lance Vermeer made it set point again with a kill as the teams traded points but the Spartans got back to back points and eventually won it on an ace serve for a 29-27 win.
Dordt seemed to regroup and had a 7-5 lead in set two after a
Diego Santiago ace serve and Missouri Baptist scored nine in a row and Dordt lost 25-13. Set three was close with neither team leading by more than two until the Spartans went up 12-9. The lead got to four before Dordt rallied to within 16-15 on a
Cory Kuperus kill. The teams traded points up to 20-19 when the Spartans closed with five points.
Dordt is now 6-5 overall and 1-4 in the HAAC. Missouri Baptist is 8-2 overall and 4-0.
Dordt will face UHSP on Saturday at 4pm.
