The Dordt Defender baseball team split a pair of games on Tuesday, February 25 in Atchison, Kansas against Valley City State. The Vikings won 9-3 in game one with Dordt bouncing back for an 8-4 win in game two.

GAME 1
Dordt led early in game one after
Logan Harris knocked in a run with a single and the 1-0 lead held until the fourth inning when the Vikings struck for five runs after being held to two hits in the first three innings. Valley City scored five runs on three hits in the inning and added two more in the fifth.
Trailing 9-1 in the seventh Dordt got two runs on a hit and an error with
Carson Belcher working for a bases loaded walk and
Braeden Biggar also walked with the bases loaded.
Matthew Eubanks took the loss with three innings pitched and he walked three with two hits allowed. Four of Valley City State's runs were unearned.

GAME 2
Dordt took a 5-1 lead into the seventh inning and added three for insurance while the Vikings also had three in the home half of the inning on the way to an 8-4 final.
Logan Templeton got the first run across with a double that scored
Logan Harris in the first inning and
Luke Arndorfer scored a run on a throwing error on a
DJ Kerr stolen base in the second inning.
DJ Kerr came through with a two-run homerun in the fourth and knocked in another run with a single in the sixth. Dordt then added three in the seventh on a wild pitch, another Kerr single and a Matt McMillian walk with the bases loaded.
Valley City State rallied with three in the seventh on four hits and left the bases loaded with
Ty Neugebauer getting the final out on a fly ball out.
Dordt is 5-7 heading into its Spring Break trip next week.Â
