The Dordt Defender women's basketball team used a strong defensive showing to limit the Midland Warriors and won an 82-34 decision in the De Witt Gym on Saturday afternoon, February 8.

The game was tied at 4-4 two minutes into the game when
Janie Van Donge converted a three-point play for a 7-4 Dordt lead the Defenders were never tied or trailed the rest of the game. A Midland free throw at the 5:51 mark was the last point the Warriors would score in the quarter and
Taylor Drent scored a basket at the 4:51 mark for Dordt that opened a 15-0 run to end the period. Van Donge scored a basket to open the second period to bring the string to 17 and the lead steadily grew to 48-13 at halftime.
The difference went to 40 by the end of the third quarter and was as much as 80-26 midway through the fourth period before the final of 82-34. 12 different players scored for the Defenders as they improved to 24-1 overall and 18-1 in the conference.
Dordt has a two game lead in the standings with three games remaining.
Midland is 3-21 this season and 3-15 in the GPAC.
