The 10
th rated Mount Mercy Mustangs stopped Dordt in four sets (25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19) on Saturday morning in a match played at the De Witt Gym in Sioux Center. The Mustangs came from behind in set one to set the tone and won the fourth set after Dordt fought off the sweep with a third set win.

Dordt maintained a lead for much of set one and led 22-19 after a
Kai Chapman kill. The Mustangs rallied to tie the set at 23-23 and after a Dordt timeout got a point from an attack error and service ace for the 25-23 win. In set two it was Mount Mercy's turn to control and they had a 20-15 lead and were still up 23-19 before a service error and
Andres Guzman kill cut into the lead. After a Mount Mercy timeout the Defenders pulled to within 23-22 on a block by
Cory Kuperus and
Andres Guzman but the Mustangs held off the rally with two unanswered for the 25-22 win.
Dordt managed to take the lead in set three at 6-5 and never trailed again as Mount Mercy closed to within 20-18 but Dordt's answer was five of the next seven points to force set four. A five out of six point run by the Mustangs midway thought set four put them in control and the Defenders were down 19-13 and never seriously dented the lead in falling 25-19.
Mount Mercy is 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the HAAC and Dordt is 8-5 and 3-5.
Dordt will play non-conference volleyball against Viterbo on Tuesday in Wisconsin.
