The Dordt Defender baseball team swept a pair from Aquinas on Monday, March 10 in Florida to conclude its Spring Break trip and return home with an 11-11 record after the 14-1 and 8-4 wins. Dordt is scheduled to open GPAC play against Dakota Wesleyan on Friday and Saturday, March 14Â and 15.

GAME 1
The Defenders started with a two run first inning, capitalizing on an error that got both runs in and added a third run in the second on a
Braeden Biggar triple that scored
Joseph Schlesselman.
The game got out of hand in the third as the Defenders plated eight runs and
Drew Oreskes recording a double for a run and
Carson Belcher and
Jimmy Twombly both had run scoring singles. A Biggar two-run homerun added to the lead in the fourth and
Matthew McMillian had a solo homerun in the fifth inning.
The game was also marked by an extended delay for lightning and resumed after nearly four hours.
Jared Hughes earned his second win of the season and went four innings and struck out six with two hits allowed before he turned it over to
Nolan Armstrong and Drew De Vries.

GAME 2
A six-run second inning vaulted Dordt to the sweep of Aquinas and evened its record heading back to Iowa.
Tied 1-1 after one inning, the Defenders got their second sacrifice fly of the game to unlock the tie and then added a
Carson Belcher single that scored two runs.
Logan Templeton homerun for another two runs and
Morgan Wilkins added to the damage with a double that made it 7-1. Dordt added to the lead with a
Drew Oreskes single for an 8-1 advantage.
The lead held until the seventh inning when Aquinas scored three but Drew De Vries came on to record the final out with a strikeout to help preserve the win.
