The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team earned a sweep of Graceland in Heart of America Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night, March 18 in Sioux Center, Iowa. Dordt controlled the match for a 25-18, 25-9, 25-17 win.

Dordt ran out to a 9-3 lead in set one and ran off another three in a row after the teams had swapped points for a 16-9 lead. Graceland was unable to mount a serious threat as Dordt's middle blockers had success with
Lance Vermeer getting a kill and
Lukas Van Groningen punctuated a three-point Dordt run with a service ace to lead 22-15. Vermeer got credit for a kill to finish the set and Dordt took set one 25-18.
Set two had Dordt get up 10-4 on a block by Vermeer and
Andres Guzman and they followed that with four of the next six points with
Cory Kuperus getting a kill for the 14-6 lead. An 8-0 run put the set out of reach with Nicodemus providing a kill to finish the set in his first appearance of the season.
Graceland regrouped in set three and trailed 11-10 with Kuperus and Elliott combined for a block to ignite a 4-0 run for some breathing room and then used a 4-0 run to stretch the lead to 23-15 as
Lukas Van Groningen recorded a pair of aces.
Diego Santiago finished the match with his match leading 10
th kill for a 25-17 win.
Dordt is now 12-9 overall and 6-8 in the league while Graceland is 2-16 and 0-11. Dordt will face Missouri Valley and Culver Stockton on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22 on the road.
