Dordt battled nationally rated Missouri Valley (Mo.) on Friday night but dropped a 3-0 decision to the Vikings in Marshall, Missouri by set scores of 26-24, 25-23, 25-18.

Dordt built a 15-9 lead in set one with Cory Kuperus and Cade Schmidt accounting for a block and maintained at least a five-point lead up to 21-16 after a service error. The Vikings responded with a 6-0 run but an attack error by the hosts tied the set at 22. Joel Van Groningen put away a kill for a 23-22 lead and the teams exchanged points with Van Groningen getting Dordt to set point. Missouri Valley answered with a 3-0 run to win the set and take a 1-0 lead.

Dordt responded by building a 20-16 lead in set two but couldn't close the deal with Missouri Valley scoring back to back points. Andres Guzman stopped the run with a kill off an assist from Lukas Van Groningen but the hosts went on a 5-0 run and went on to play side out volleyball for a 25-23 win.

Dordt ran out of momentum in set three and got behind 13-5 and got no closer than six the rest of the set and lost 25-18.
