The Dordt Defender baseball team split with the Mount Marty Lancers on Thursday afternoon in Yankton, South Dakota. Mount Marty used a five-run fifth inning on the way to an 8-6 win in game one and Dordt bounced back for a 4-1 win in game two and never trailed.

GAME 1
Morgan Wilkins started the scoring with a solo homerun in the second inning and led 3-1 after the visitors half of the fifth inning with
Carson Belcher singling in
Joseph Schlesselman and
Matthew McMillian singled in
Logan Harris.
The hosts came back immediately with two in the fifth to tie the game and then scored five runs on five hits in the sixth inning to take control. The Defenders made it interesting with
Logan Templeton singling in
Carson Belcher in the seventh and a ground out by Wilkins got McMillian across. An error extended the inning and allowed
Joseph Schlesselman to knock in a run with a single after a pitching change but the threat ended with the potential tying run being retired on a fly out.

Jared Hughes went the distance and the Dordt Defenders never trailed to get a split of their doubleheader with Mount Marty.
Logan Templeton doubled in
Carson Belcher and
Jimmy Twombly in the first inning and Templeton had a sacrifice fly to get
Carson Belcher in during the third inning for a 3-0 lead. Mount Marty broke up the shutout with a run in the fifth by Schlesselman had a sacrifice fly to get
Cade Williams in for a 4-1 advantage that eventually stood up.
