The Dordt Defender baseball team swept its doubleheader with Mount Marty on Friday in Sioux Center to improve to 4-8 in GPAC play. Dordt took a 3-0 win in game one and sat out a lengthy lightning delay to win game two 9-5.

GAME 1
A three-run sixth inning was all the offense either team could muster as Dordt secured a 3-0 win in game one.
Matthew Eubanks worked out of early trouble on the mound and left the game after five and a third innings with the game scoreless. Mount Marty stranded three in the first and two in the third and two more in the fifth while missing opportunities to take the lead.
Dordt finally broke through in the home half of the sixth after Mount Marty left two on again with
Ty Neugebauer working out of trouble with a strikeout to end the threat.
Carson Belcher was hit by a pitch to start the home half of the sixth and
Gabriel McFarland ran for him. A ground out advanced McFarland and
Logan Templeton doubled to get McFarland in.
Drew Oreskes pinch hit and doubled to left field and knocked in another run and
DJ Kerr had a single to get a third run across.
Drew De Vries came on in relief in the bottom of the seventh while inheriting two runners and he got a pair of lineouts to McFarland in left field to end the game.

Morgan Wilkins homeruns highlighted a 9-5 win in game two as Dordt secured the sweep of the Lancers.
Mount Marty had a 2-0 lead after one inning and a 3-0 lead after two before Dordt rallied. A

Logan Harris and
Logan Templeton knocked in two with a double to tie the score at 3-3.
Morgan Wilkins followed with a two-run homerun for a 5-3 lead.
Mount Marty got the lead down to 5-4 with a run in the sixth but the game was delayed for over an hour shortly after that with lightning in the area. When play resumed the Defenders worked out of trouble in the seventh with the bases loaded to keep the score at 5-4 and Dordt put up four in the eighth with Wilkins leading off the frame with a homerun and Twombly singling in two.
Drew De Vries came on to close the game and allowed one run on one hit and Dordt won their third game in a row.
