The Dordt University softball team dropped a pair of one-run games on day three of their Spring Break Trip in Florida. The Defenders lost game one this morning to Judson (Ill.) 6-5 and were then defeated by Spring Arbor (Mich.) 1-0.
The Defenders fall to 8-13 on the season and will play No.11 Marian (Ind.) and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Friday at 1:30 / 3:45pm.

The Defenders out-hit Judson 10-4 but came up just short, falling 6-5 in the first game this morning.
Judson scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, all with two outs. Ashlynn Avenarius doubled to center and scored after a Dordt error on a ball hit by McKenna Morrill. Two batters later, Morrill came around to score on a single by Lexie Knoles.
Dordt continued to trail 2-0 until the seventh inning when they pushed five runs across on five hits as nine Defenders came to the plate.
Peyton Whipple began the rally with a one-out double and scored after a
Brooklynn Cox double with two outs. Following a walk to
Addison Stephenson,
Ashtyn Grissom plated both Cox and Stephenson on an RBI double to give Dordt its first lead 3-2. Both
Taylor Schneider and
Kyleigh Reiter followed with back-to-back doubles to put Dordt up 5-2.
Judson came back with a four-spot in the bottom of the seventh with Madelynn Petty delivering a walkoff, two-run single to win it.
Dordt was led by Cox and Grissom with two hits each while Grissom drove in two runs. Six other Defenders had one hit each; this was the sixth game where the Defenders had 10-plus hits.
Bailey Sample limited Judson to three hits over 6-plus innings, giving up one earned run while recording four strikeouts.
Judson, now 4-9 this season, was led by Knowles with a two-run single and both Avenarius and Morrill also had one hit. Katherine Hrinda (3-3) earned the complete game win.

The Defenders lost to Spring Arbor 1-0 in a classic pitchers dual in the second game played this afternoon in Kissimmee, Fla.
Spring Arbor manufactured the lone run of the game in the top of the first inning when Emilee Underwood led off with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, went to third after a single by Summer Ambler and scored on a run-down play between first and second.
The teams combined for 10 hits, nine singles and one double, five walks and 16 strikeouts.
Chloe Kreuz (4-7) pitched a gem in the loss, holding Spring Arbor to seven hits and one run while striking out seven, her second highest output of the season. Kreuz had two of the three hits for the Defenders and
Annabelle Hensley contributed the other.
Ava Poulson (2-0) earned the win for Spring Arbor, who improved to 7-3 on the season. Poulson struck out nine and walked two. Underwood was the top hitter, going 2-for-3, and scored the only run.
