Defenders Secure Position In HAAC Tournament

The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team secured a Heart of America Conference win over Kansas Wesleyan to conclude the 2025 regular season. The 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 win secured a spot in the eight-team HAAC post season tournament which begins in one week.

Three ace serves by Cade Schmidt in the first set were part of a 6-0 run that put Dordt up 10-4. After Kansas Wesleyan got as close as three Dordt used another 4-0 run with an ace by Lukas Van Groningen helping the string to a 15-8 advantage. Dordt was in control the rest of the set for a 25-18 win.

Dordt led start to finish in set two with a 4-0 run starting the contest. Wesleyan managed to stay within striking distance before a service error and an Andres Guzman kill gave the Defenders some breathing room. The Coyotes didn't mount another threat and Dordt won the set by an identical 25-18 margin.

Wesleyan managed to take a 6-2 lead in set three but Dordt rallied for a 10-0 run and also scored five out of the next seven points for a 17-8 lead and won by a final of 25-17.

Dordt finishes the regular season with a 15-11 overall record and a 9-10 HAAC mark. Dordt will await the pairings for the postseason tournament announced late Tuesday, April 6 after play concludes.  Dordt is idle on Tuesday and will travel for the quarterfinals on Saturday, April 12.
