Dordt and Hastings split their GPAC doubleheader in Hastings, Nebraska on Saturday afternoon, April 5 by scores of 21-7 for a Dordt win and a 9-3 loss in game two.

GAME 1
The Dordt Defender baseball team erupted for 12 runs in the third inning of game one and had no trouble in holding off Hastings 21-7.Â
Dordt had a 3-0 lead after the top of the second with a
Drew Oreskes sacrifice fly getting
Carson Belcher in during the first and
Morgan Wilkins had a single that made it 2-0. Dordt added a
Carson Belcher double that pushed
Jimmy Twombly across for the 3-0 advantage.
Hastings seemed to have things going its way with a five run second but Dordt got 12 runs on nine hits in the third as
DJ Kerr got the scoring going with a two-run single and
Chisum Demmers doubled in two more to put Dordt up for good at 7-5. Demmers later singled in two more runs to extend the lead to 15-5 as Dordt sent 18 batters to the plate. Dordt scored seven of its runs in the inning after the second out was recorded.
Four more runs came in the fourth with Demmers knocking in a run with a single and
DJ Kerr also had a run scoring single. Dordt finished its scoring with two more in the sixth with Twombly getting a double and a fielder's choice added to the scoring. Hastings to its final two in the home half of the sixth.

GAME 2
Dordt scored three in the first but didn't muster more in falling 9-3 in game two of the doubleheader in Hastings, Nebraska.
Dordt's three in the first came with
Logan Templeton singling in
Jimmy Twombly and
DJ Kerr had a single to get two across but Dordt left two on base. Hastings came back with a run in the bottom of the first and tied it with two in the third inning. Hastings took the lead in the fourth and then got three more in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-3. Dordt had two base runners in the seventh with one out but a ground out and a strikeout ended the threat and the Defenders went scoreless the rest of the game. Dordt did have two in the nine as well with two singles to lead off the frame.
Dordt is 16-22 this season and 5-11 in the GPAC. Dordt is scheduled to host Midland in four games on Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12 in its next action.
