MORNINGSIDE GAME
Dordt's offense was unable to get on track and lost a 7-0 decision to the Morningside Mustangs in the championship game of the Midland Pod on Friday. The bracket concluded a day later than scheduled due to rain and lightning over the last 72 hours.
Morningside scored one in the first, two in the third and three in the fifth inning.
Dordt's best chance came in the fourth when
Brooklynn Cox reached on an error and
Chloe Kreuz followed with a single. A pair of flyouts ended the threat and kept the score at 3-0. Dordt got another two runners on in the sixth with
Brooke Rule and Kreuz each singling but a ground out and pop out finished the frame.
Kreuz tied the Dordt program single-season hits record.
This is the third straight season the Defenders have won at least 26 games and fifth in a row with at least 21 wins.
