The Dordt University women's golf team is in sixth place after day one of the Mount Marty Invitational, played at the Tatanka Golf Club in Niobrara, Neb.
The Defenders carded a 359 this afternoon, two shots in back of fifth-place Peru State (Neb.) and 11 strokes behind Hastings. Doane opened the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a 304 and owns a six shot lead over Dakota Wesleyan (310).
Jillian Eidsness is the top Defender golfer after round one as the senior is tied for 19th place with an 85 (+13).
Ashlee Sweeter also sits among the top 25, in a tie for 25th place with an 89 (+17).
Katherine Beekman (30th - 92),
Ollie Large (31st - 93) and
Hope Faber (34th - 95) round out the five Dordt golfers.
A pair of Doane golfers, Laila Saunders and Tia Phaisan, sit atop the leaderboard after round one with a 73 (+1) and 75 (+3), respectively. Sara Sudenga (DWU) also carded a 75 (+3) and is tied with Phaisan for second.
Tuesday's final round at Tatanka Golf Club will begin at 10am.
