Dordt University women's soccer earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw on the road against Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday evening at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
Playing with ten players for nearly 80 minutes after an unfortunate red card in the 12th minute, the Defenders leaned heavily on their defense and goalkeeper
Lydia Zylstra, who turned in a standout performance with
11 saves to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard.
Dordt (2-3-2, 1-0-1 GPAC) was outshot
19-8, but Zylstra and a strong defensive effort kept Dakota Wesleyan from capitalizing on their chances.
Offensively,
Karinna Tel led Dordt with three shots, including two on-goal, while
Joslyn Terpstra added a late shot from a corner kick that was saved in the final minute. Dordt earned three corner kicks and managed four shots on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Despite the adversity, Dordt walked away with a valuable point on the road and remains unbeaten in conference play.
