Dordt opened strong, racing to a 10-point lead midway through the first quarter at 17-7 but had to rally to beat Hastings on the road Saturday afternoon, January 3, by a 97-87 final.

The Defenders' early surge featured a jumper from
Macy Sievers, a three-pointer by
Willow Bleeker, and three inside baskets from
Gracie Schoonhoven, who also added a free throw.
Aubrey Burkhart capped the run with her first three-pointer of the day.
Hastings answered late in the first and carried momentum into the second quarter, outscoring Dordt 24-19 in the opening frame and 22-26 in the second to take a 46-45 halftime lead. Bailey Kissinger, McKenna Yates, and Josilyn Miller fueled the Broncos' comeback.
The third quarter belonged to Dordt. Shooting nearly 70% from the floor, the Defenders poured in 33 points, highlighted by Burkhart's three triples and key baskets from Bleeker and Sievers, building a 78-71 advantage heading into the fourth.
Dordt stretched the margin to 88-78 with 6:45 left after Schoonhoven and Sievers scored inside. However, Schoonhoven was  disqualified on fouls and Hastings clawed back to within 90-87 with 3:59 remaining behind clutch shots from Ann Bose and Macy Bryant, but Burkhart delivered the dagger—her seventh three-pointer of the game with 56 seconds left, pushing Dordt ahead 95-87 and sealing the 97-87 win.
Gracie Schoonhoven became the most recent member of the Dordt Women's Basketball 1,000 Point Club with her final basket of the day and has 1,001 career points through 70 career games.Â
Dordt is now 14-1 overall and 8-1 in the GPAC. Dordt is scheduled to face the College of Saint Mary on Wednesday night at home in a 6pm start.
