An eight goal second period pushed the Dordt Defenders to 12-2 win on Friday night over the Missouri Tigers.
Dordt got four goals from
Reuben Horneman and three by
Rylan Veenstra to highlight the win. It was Horneman who scored the first three goals, getting one with under five seconds remaining in the first period to give Dordt a 2-1 lead.Â
The Defenders struck early and often in the second period, quickly extending the lead to 5-1 with three goals in the first two minutes with Horneman,
Mason Spejcher and
Rylan Veenstra finding the net. Dordt was up 9-1 after three and
Rylan Veenstra capped the Dordt scoring with two goals for his hat trick in the third period.
Tim Nanson faced 16 shots in goal and had 14 saves as Dordt held a 53-16 shots advantage.
Two of Dordt's goals were power plays and Dordt scored eight goals in second period on 24 shots.
