The Dordt University men's track and field team qualified one event for nationals to conclude day one of the Mark Schuck Open held at the Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn.

• the Defenders distance medley team took home the lone first place finish and hit the qualifying time for the NAIA Indoor National Championships
  • the team of Kaden Van Wyngarden, Isaiah Johnson, Isaac Davelaar and Hudson Hamilton led from start to finish and crossed the finish line in 10:17.9
  • the time currently ranks seventh in the NAIA and sits No.10 all-time at Dordt
  • Van Wyngarden moved the Defenders to the front of the pack during the opening lap of the 1200m carry
  • Dordt maintained its lead throughout the race, holding off both the University of Sioux Falls and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville
• two Defenders, Levi Landman and Truman Johnson, finished among the the top 10 in a competitive 3000m field
  • both Landman (5th - 8:39) and Johnson (6th - 8:45) ran personal-bests and rank among the top 10 all-time at Dordt
  • Landman is No.4 in the GPAC
• 14 Dordt runners competed in the 3000m
• Willem Den Hartog placed ninth in the premier division of the pole vault
  • Den Hartog, the reigning GPAC Field Athlete of the Week and program record holder, cleared 4.64m
• competing in his first heptathlon, Nathan Adams is in 16th place after four events with 2,008 points
  • Adams recorded a personal-best in the long jump (5.80m) and shot put (7.89m)
  • Adams will take part in the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m on Saturday
