Micah Schaap won the long jump for the third time during this indoor season and Caleb Van Beek earned his first career win in the 5000m to lead the Dordt University men's track and field team at the Wildcat Invite held today in Wayne, Neb.

Notes:

• Schaap claimed the victory in the long jump for the third time this season
  • the senior, who hit the 'B' standard last week in Mankato, Minn, jumped 7.06m / 23-02 and won by over four inches
• Schaap was also the top sprinter for the Defenders, running a personal-best 7.16 in the 60m, good for eighth place all-time
• Van Beek earned the win and led a strong group of Defender runners in the 5000m
  • Van Beek won the distance race with a time of 15:33, a time that ranks 10th in the GPAC
  • Isaac Fagan was second (15:34), followed by Tavin Schroeder (3rd) and Chase Kamp (5th)
  • both Schroeder and Fagan ran personal best times
• Dordt's pole vault crew contined its strong season with four among the top 10 finishers
  • Willem Den Hartog led the Defenders with a runner-up finish
  • Micah Evenhouse was third and had a personal-best vault (4.40m)
  • Nathan Adams (5th) and Isaac Fergen (7th) were also in the top 10
• Thomas Peltzer recorded a pair of top 10 finishes in the throws
  • Peltzer's mark of 14.07m was good for 10th place and sixth best all-time at Dordt
  • the sophomore finished seventh in the weight throw
• Landon Fransman matched his personal-best and had a runner-up finish in the high jump
  • Grant Busker gave the Defenders two in the top 10, placing eighth
• Casey Heinrichs had the highest finish by a Defender in the middle-distance, placing second in the 800m
  • Josiah Wittenberg placed fifth as well
