Hockey | Defender Trio Named MACHA All-Conference

(Tuesday, March 10; Sioux Center, Iowa) Three Dordt Defender hockey players have earned all-conference honors from the MACHA in voting done by the coaches at the conclusion of the regular season.

Dordt's Zach Espenson (Senior; Windom, Minnesota), Rylan Veenstra (Sophomore; Edmonton, Alberta) and Tim Nanson (Freshman; Fergus Falls, Minnesota) earned the recognition while helping the Defenders to a 27-3 record and a second straight conference tournament championship along with an ACHA Division III National Championship field berth.

Veenstra claims the honor after scoring 33 goals with 40 assists and was second in the ACHA in points produced.

Espenson scored 13 goals and assisted on 27 for a Dordt defense that allowed 55 goals in 30 games played and he is a four-time MACHA All-Conference honoree.

Nanson was the MACHA Tournament MVP and posted a 15-2 record this season with a 1.11 goals allowed average and he made 344 saves while allowing 18 goals in 977 minutes of action.

The Defenders will open ACHA National play in St. Louis on Wednesday, March 17 in the first of three pool play games against Nebraska-Omaha.
