The Dordt University men's track and field team completed day one of competition at the Wildcat Classic, a two-day meet held at the LeRoy Simpson Track in Wayne, Neb.
Ben Van Eps was the top finisher among the six Defenders who competed today as the senior placed third among 22 athletes in the javelin. Van Eps, who earned all-conference honors in the event last year, recorded a mark of 51.16m / 167-10, trailing only Kellan Odell (Mount Marty) and Luke Paulsen (Morningside).
Cade Vlietstra finished 19th for the Defenders (34.74m).
Thomas Peltzer (22nd - 41.27m / 135-04) and
Jude Vander Giessen (25th - 36.67m / 120-03) were the top Dordt placers in the hammer.Â
Saturday's events for the Defenders will begin at 11am.
