(Friday, March 27; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2025-26 Academic All-District basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The teams have been announced and four Dordt women's basketball players named to the list.
Macy Sievers (Senior; Storm Lake, Iowa) and
Willow Bleeker (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) have been named to the list for the third and second time respectively.
Gracie Schoonhoven (Junior; Hospers, Iowa) and
Taylor Drent (Senior; Sioux City, Iowa) have both earned the honor for the first time.
Sievers was a 1
st Team CSC Academic All-American in 2024-25 and averaged 16.7 points per game with 8.1 rebounds, 9.4 assists and 3.1 steals per game. Sievers is studying Elementary Education and was the GPAC Player of the Year for the second year in a row this season. Sievers started all 37 games for Dordt this year.
Bleeker averaged 8.4 points per game this season and converted 78 three-point shots with 2.9 rebounds per game. Bleeker was a 2
nd Team All-GPAC honoree and is studying Social Work. Bleeker started 37 games for Dordt as the Defenders finished 34-3 and as runner-up national champion.
Schoonhoven averaged a team high 22.4 points per game with 6.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists and 2.1 steals. She converted 61 percent of her field goals this season and is studying Nursing. This season was the first full season for Schoonhoven and she started all 37 games while setting a single season scoring record with 827 points.
Drent played in all 37 games and averaged 3.1 points per game with 4.6 rebounds and will graduate with a degree in Nursing.
Academic All-District nominees must have at least sophomore academic standing with a cumulative 3.5 grade point average. Nominees must also appear in at least 90 percent of the team's games or start 66 percent of the season's competitions.
