Dordt split a pair of games with Aquinas on Friday in Florida, using a big middle-inning surge to claim the opener before Aquinas held off a late Defender rally to take the nightcap.

Dordt broke open a scoreless game with a three-run fourth inning and added three more in the fifth on the way to a 7-3 win in the first game of the doubleheader.
Neither team scored through the first three innings as Dordt starter
Bennett Spronk worked out of early traffic and struck out eight in five scoreless innings.
The Defenders finally broke through in the fourth inning.
Drew Oreskes started the rally with a single and
Logan Templeton followed with a double to put runners in scoring position.
Logan Harris delivered the first run with an RBI
single to score Oreskes and move Templeton to third. Templeton later scored on a catcher's error and
Stephen Dillender capped the inning with an RBI single to left for a 3-0 Dordt lead.
Dordt added to the lead in the fifth.
Ryan Vann singled and Oreskes followed with another base hit before Templeton delivered the key swing of the game with a two-run double to left field that scored both runners and stretched the lead to 5-0. Templeton later scored on a balk to push the advantage to 6-0.
The Defenders added their final run in the sixth inning when Dillender doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jimmy Twombley for a 7-0 lead.
Aquinas rallied in the seventh inning with a solo home run by Stephen Weinert and an RBI double by Chase Robinson, but Dordt reliever
Jacob Camp closed out the game to preserve the win.

Aquinas built an early lead and held off a late Dordt rally to claim the second game of the doubleheader by a 4-3 margin.
Dordt struck first in the opening inning when
Ryan Vann singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Logan Templeton for a 1-0 lead.
Aquinas answered with two runs in the second inning as JT LaMange scored on a fielder's choice and Ruston Whitten came home on a Dordt error to give the Saints a 2-1 lead.
The Saints added another run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Chase Robinson and extended the lead to 4-1 in the fifth when Zachary Hayes delivered an RBI single.
Dordt mounted its rally in the sixth inning.
Logan Harris walked and Joey Schlesselman followed with another walk before
DJ Kerr dropped down a bunt single that resulted in a run after an Aquinas throwing error. Moments later Schlesselman scored when
Chisum Demmers reached on another error, trimming the deficit to 4-3.
The Defenders were unable to push across the tying run in the seventh as Aquinas retired the side in order to secure the win.
