Makenna Walhof was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week announced by the conference office earlier today.

Notes: 

• this is the second installment of the weekly awards for the 2026 outdoor track and field season
• Walhof qualified for nationals in two events in her outdoor season debut at the Wildcat Classic last weekend
• the junior placed third and set the school record in the hammer on Friday, recording a mark of 55.35m / 181'07"
  • Walhof surpassed the previous record of 169'09", held by Jenna Gleason (2024)
  • Walhof ranks second in the NAIA in the current performance list
• Walhof then finished second in the discus on Saturday, an event that she earned All-American honors last year
  • Walhof recorded a mark of 47.68m / 156'05" and hit the 'B' standard where she is currently fifth in the NAIA
