Dordt battled back from an early deficit and carried a late lead, but Midland used a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to secure a walk-off victory.
Midland struck first with a three-run home run in the opening inning, taking advantage of an early Dordt error to build a 3-0 lead. The Defenders answered quickly, getting on the board in the second when
Sumaya Edwards launched a solo home run to center.
Dordt surged ahead in the third inning with a string of quality at-bats.
Annabelle Hensley and
Lauren Steenstra reached to start the rally before Edwards delivered an RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Taylor Schneider followed with a two-run single through the right side, capping a three-run frame and giving Dordt a 4-3 lead.
The Defenders added what looked like an insurance run in the sixth as Tera Lynn Price worked a walk and came around to score on a
Rylee Yager RBI single, extending the advantage to 5-3.
Yager kept Midland in check through six innings, but the Warriors broke through in the seventh. A leadoff walk and sacrifice bunt set the table before Midland strung together three consecutive hits, including a game-tying double and a walk-off RBI single to complete the comeback.

A big second inning by Midland proved to be the difference as Dordt's late rally came up short in the nightcap.
Dordt struck first in the opening inning when
Lauren Steenstra delivered an RBI single to score
Chloe Kreuz for a 1-0 lead. Midland responded decisively in the second inning, capitalizing on walks and a key Dordt error to plate six runs—five of them unearned—in a momentum-shifting frame.
Despite the early setback, Dordt settled in behind
Chloe Kreuz in relief, who kept Midland scoreless over the final four and a third innings and allowed the Defenders a chance to rally.
That push came in the seventh inning. Dordt strung together four hits and applied pressure, beginning with a double by
Addison Stephenson-Roy. Kreuz followed with an RBI single, and sacrifice flies from Yager and Edwards trimmed the deficit to 6-4 before the threat ended.
